PERMCATH INSERTION

This is a process which is used for dialysis of several patients. Permcath insertion technique is used by an experienced doctor to decrease the effect of some infections. In this treatment, the doctor inserts an IV line into a blood vessel just below your neck or just above your upper chest to the right of your heart. Generally, short-term dialysis treatment is done with the help of this catheter. The catheter is then threaded to the right side of your heart. The reason for all this is to create a tunnel inside the skin to pull the catheter out through the skin.

Major risks associated with the infection are reduced with this tunneling process and the catheter is in for about 1 to 12 months of time period. A well-experienced staff executes this operation which goes for around 15 to 45 minutes. A dressing is applied on your chest after the whole procedure to cover the insertion site.

The patient is required to perform these tasks and is supposed to be taken special care of the following things:

1. Do not get the catheter wet, you are allowed to enter a bathtub but make sure that you won't wet the catheter.
2. Continue your daily dialysis treatment.
3. Inform the doctor in case of heavy pain or bleeding around the insertion site.
4. You may have mild pain and you can take your general painkillers to reduce the pain.

Note: This treatment is used to reduce the risk of some infections, the catheter is placed for about 1 to 12 months inside your body. Special care is to be taken of a patient. Consult the Best Nephrologist in East Delhi in the case of an issue.
